Koranic Guidelines on Human-Information Interaction

Authors

Abstract:

Background and aim: Analyzing the newly-emerged field of human-information interaction (HII) needs to study the field from diferent aspects and perspectives. Religious literature, including among others the Koran is one of main resources for doing so. This study aimed to extract and explain the guidelines and main points related to HII by deeply reflecting on Koranic verses and chapters that regard this notion. Method: By applying Koranic scientific and topical interpretion approach and using a qualitative content analysis, the related guidelines and points were extracted from the Koran by using a comprehensive and popular 10-volumed Persian interpretion book, Tafsīr Nūr authored by an Iranian scholar, Muhsin Qarā‘tī. Findings: 25 Koranic guidelines on HII were found from the Koran. In total, the Koran has direct and indirect guidelines on HII, including information search, evaluation, dissemination, use and verification, and approaches of sending-receiving and using information. Conclusion: Considering the Koranic guidelines on HII and conducting further research on them can resolve many challenges of encountring information of any types in the information age

Information Retrieval Systems: A Perspective on Human Computer Interaction

Traditional information systems design and development methodologies tend to overly focus on the technical details of the system such as memory management, system internals, algorithms and modules. It is not unusual for system designers and developers to often completely omit from the thought process the human element. This article offers a new information systems perspective particularly for i...

A Human-Information Interaction Perspective on Augmented Cognition

Nearly a half-century ago, J.C.R. Licklider expressed a vision for “man-machine symbiosis,” coupling human brains and computing machines in a partnership that “will think as no human brain has ever thought and process data in a way not approached by the information-handling machines we know today.” Until relatively recently, this vision was largely left idle by human factors engineering (HFE) r...

Interaction in Information Systems – Beyond Human Computer Interaction

The purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze the role of interaction in information systems. Interaction represents dynamic relations between actors and other elements in information systems. We introduce a semiformal notation that we use to describe a set of interaction patterns and we illustrate how the notation can be used to describe mediated interaction. We use the interaction patte...

Human Factors guidelines for multimodal interaction, communication and navigation

This paper identifies key issues, solutions and actions for multimodal interaction, communication and navigation at the user interface with ICT systems and terminals. It specifically addresses the usage context of transactional interactions for independent living, and focus on the dynamics of multimodal transactions/user dialogues for the consumers of ICT systems and terminals. It identifies ho...
